New Garden Idea

I’m so excited to try this and so happy to have heard about it. A gardener friend of mine turned me on to this and if half what the book promises is true, my gardening career is saved.

I love fresh produce and each year for several years I have planted a small garden. Each year in August I finally give up overcome by the weeding task. I never plant a fall garden. Each year I wonder if it’s worth it. We have such a short growing season and we are not blessed with an abundance of water.

Just as I was counting the cost once again, these were the promises I found:

  • little or no weeding
  • 50% less water
  • 5 times the harvest of the equivalent space in a traditional garden

So the boy and I put it together yesterday, mixed the soil and planted for the fall.

New square foot garden

I’m excited to see if all my gardening dreams come true.  If they do, we’ll build a bunch!

Dad & I have discovered this too! Dad did a variation of this in the greenhouse at least, and it looks good! I think it’ll be the earliest crop of tomatoes he’s ever had. The whole garden is wonderful; we have already gotten a lot of chard, green beans, and some squash!

Wow, I like it!
I have a little gardening website, http://look-at-me.info/ The Garden Worm and would like to read upon this garden plan, it’s really neat looking and would sure simplify the square foot garden plans that I have seen else where.

Where can I look at and read up on the design and plan your are using?? Thanks

The new Square Foot Gardening book is where i have seen this design. I borrowed it from the library several times before Dad bought a copy and lent it to me. Which reminds me – I’d better give it back!

Sorry, that should be New Square Foot Gardening. “New” is part of the title.

hhm, spending a few wasteful minutes reading blogs, kids are barfing and I have to go to work this afternoon, this is so fun (not them being sick but having this free time) I had forgotten about this website, going to check it out right now and rub oils on the sick little man’s tummy.
